After we left Sandpoint, we took off for Canada again on Wednesday night. We stopped at Fairmont Hot Springs, BC to spend a few more nights with Brendan's parents in their condo, and then headed to Calgary, Alberta. Alec has informed us that if he "could go anywhere in the world, he would go to Fairmont". It is really pretty and cozy there. Brendan has vacationed their since he was a little boy, so it is a fun place for him to go back to as well.
We had supper with Brendan's cousins in Calgary and then went on to his Uncle's place for the night and next day - was really fun to help celebrate his 55th with 30 or so other family members.
We headed back thru the beautiful Rocky Mountains to BC and the next day we took Brendan's folk's out for a 45th Anniversary lunch before heading back to our camper in Post Falls Idaho.
We had the camper parked at some friends house, which was really nice so we didn't have to pay for parking it or worry about it. On Sunday, we took off for the 7 hour drive to Bend, OR --- after a few set-backs of a sick-child, a nail in the tire and a stiff head-wind we arrived to our new campground in the tall, Ponderosa Pines at 9pm. It was a busy, transfer-the-bags-from-one-room/house/camper-to-the next long weekend, but we're really glad we did it. It's not real often we get in on these Layden family events!
